‎REIMAGINING INDIA’S HEALTH SYSTEM TOWARDS VIKSIT BHARAT @ 2047-A Policy Dialogue on the Recommendations of the Lancet Commission on a Citizen-Centred Health System for India

CHSDM hosted “Reimagining India’s Health System Towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047: A Policy Dialogue on the Recommendations of the Lancet Commission on a Citizen-Centred Health System for India” on 6 February 2026 at the Fr. Romuald D’Souza Auditorium, Goa Institute of Management. The dialogue focused on translating the recommendations of the Lancet Commission on a Citizen-Centred Health System for India into actionable reforms to advance Universal Health Coverage in India.
The discussions centred on three key reform areas: strengthening public sector financing, governance, and service delivery with enhanced citizen participation; aligning private sector engagement and digital technologies with UHC goals to improve access, affordability, and continuity of care; and fostering a learning health system through collaboration, transparency, and evidence-based policymaking. The dialogue featured speakers from diverse backgrounds, including policymakers, public health experts, clinicians, academics, representatives from multilateral organisations, industry leaders, and authors of the Commission report.
Approximately 140 participants attended the event, and it was also livestreamed on YouTube, enabling wider public engagement beyond the venue.

Pre-Conclave Workshop- AI for Healthcare Delivery in India: From Hype to Safe, Useful Practice

The Centre organised a full-day workshop titled “AI for Healthcare Delivery in India: From Hype to Safe, Useful Practice” on 7 November 2025 at the GIM campus. Held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the workshop brought together around 30 participants, including doctors, healthcare professionals, and researchers, for in-depth discussions on the practical adoption of AI in healthcare. Through interactive sessions, participants engaged directly with experts, shared lived clinical experiences, and explored how AI can be responsibly integrated into healthcare delivery while safeguarding ethics, trust, and patient rights.

The workshop featured five distinguished speakers. Experts from the IndiaAI Mission, namely Swadeep Singh, Anurag Deb, and Gaurav Jha, discussed the transformative potential of AI in diagnostics, teleconsultations, and hospital operations, while emphasising Responsible AI and the Mission’s role in strengthening digital infrastructure and innovation. Rakesh Biswas, Professor of Medicine at the Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences, highlighted human-centred clinical decision-making, transparency, and patient consent in AI-enabled care. Mili Budhiraja from Wadhwani AI Global presented Shishu Maapan, an AI-powered smartphone tool supporting newborn health monitoring in resource-constrained settings. Together, the sessions reinforced the workshop’s core objective of bridging AI innovation with safe and practical healthcare delivery in India.
